    Installing Delkevic 4 into 1 exhaust 80 GS550

First off, the bad. I was a little disappointed in the lack of instructions and lack of All the correct fasteners in the box. I bought the exhaust kit Brand New off ebay from Delkevic but I'm thinking someone ordered a kit and took some hardware and returned this kit and I ended up with it. No excuse for someone at Delkevic to Not check All components before shipment. I only received 2 of the 8 exhaust flange bolts (originals are approx.10mm too long) and the mount bolts for the rear bracket are too short and the rear mount bracket is about 50mm (2in) too short to work. Another major issue was the # stickers they applied to each down pipe and 4 # stickers on the collector. TOOK ME AN HOUR OR MORE TO REMOVE.

The Good. I'm 70 years old and was able, By Myself, to install the 4 springs from the down pipes to the collector. If you have put these on you'll know what I'm talking about. I had in my stock the correct size flange bolts and had my son fabricate a new rear hanger bracket (Stainless Steel) at the Sheet Metal Fabrication Company he works for. I'm still waiting for my DNA Pod air filters to arrive from Greece but in the mean time I just had to hear the exhaust. I returned the air mixture screws back to stock setting (2.125 out) they were at 5 turns out each!!WTH
The sound is amazing and it fired right up. No hesitation and No back firing. I had to adjust the idle down but I did nothing else to the carbs. Ran it for about an hour (with a fan) and had no discoloration of the down pipes. That means if anything it's not running lean. Pulled the plugs and they are dark brown in color.

Good that you were able to get it installed but that is poor quality control on Delkevic.
    I would contact them.

Even with a giant fan i wouldn't run a bike for an hour. Too much heat buildup on other components than the front of the engine. Just my opinion.

      An hour?!? Yikes!

And that's coming from a madman who hit the starter with NO exhaust installed, just to see the flames.

I've sent them 4 messages through ebay and No reply. I will wait another day or two before leaving negative feedback.

And the DNA Pods are a perfect fit on the 550. No more "Universal Fit" pods. You get what you pay for even though the K&N Pods weren't cheap by any means, they didn't fit at all, Too Long for the short frame of the 550.

It was 40 degrees in my shop at the time and I had two fans on it. Living in Texas where it can get above 100 degrees for days, I don't think running it for an hour or more will do any harm to anything.IMHO
