    Diaphragm Replacement

    Would someone please tell me how to replace the diaphragm on the slide throttle? Also, are the slide/diaphragm assemblies interchangeable between a BS32SS and a BS34SS?

    32 and 34 slides are different. You can look up the PN's for yourself, using one of the various OEM part suppliers available online.

    I have replaced diaphragms before by carefully uncrimping the lip on the slide which secures the diaphragm's plastic retaining ring. The lip will likely crack and break off in places, but if you are careful, you can typically preserve enough of the lip to adequately secure the ring again, after the diaphragm is replaced. It's not without risk, but doable.

      I've not tried this supplier but have read good reviews on other boards. They have the diaphragms and instructions on their site.

      JBM Industries rubber carburetor holder socket boots, flange intake sockets, vibration isolators, stainless steel exhaust springs, for Rotax 912, 582, 503, 447, 377, Zenoah & HKS engines. Yamaha 650 SX and TX Mikuni BS-38 and 34 CV carbs. Diaphragms & holders.

        Is there an expected lifespan for the CV diaphragm? Seems we will all run out of NOS as some point.

          42 years and going strong. Just had 1 of the 4 out and still pliable with no signs of wear. I think it may depend on use. My bike does not have multi-year periods of sitting idle. My guess is if the diaphragms are worked regularly they stay pliable. This is only a guess.
