    JB Weld carb?

Has anyone successfully used JB Weld to reattach a float pin mount? A previous owner broke one and used some kind of silicone to put it back on.

No, but I've seen one successfully TIG welded back on.

I had a VM zinc carb bod repaired by this guy. After shipping both ways, and paying for the repair, it wasn't cheap.

Best to find a new carb body.

Here's two different ways I saw this guy fix a carburetor float post. They worked but not real sure either was a success that you might want to rely on...

1st one is on a Yamaha, but Mikuni carbs repaired using a bolt -

Next one is from a GS1000G he was working on and used a post he machined and pressed into the carb body -

I've done it by drilling it & inserting a brass rod up the middle of the post & then into the body. Wasn't easy but it seemed to work.

I’m giving it a shot. Worst case it doesn’t hold and the float gets lopsided. Then I’ll look into finding another carb.

JB Weld won't hold. And that YouTube dude is a dud. He didn't even ungang the carbs to clean them properly.

                  Get a new carb body.

That float post on my carb was like that when I got the bike, so I'm really not sure what kind of adhesive was used.

Maybe as a test you can stick some scrap aluminum together and let it marinate in gas for a while, then try to pull it apart.

There are various tests on the internet already, including Youtube, and the JB Weld didn't hold. Yours may have something inside, like a peg. Not sure.

When I did it I put a peg inside vertically and then cross drilled it and inserted horizontal and snipped it close.
as I said it wasn’t easy but it did work.
all in it’s easier probably to get a new carb body….
