As we know the OEM carb boots (for GS1100G anyway) are no longer available.
I bought a set of Moto1988 boots like what can find on Amazon / EBay for something like $65 a set.
(I dont know if are other brands other than this Moto1988.) I havent seen any discussion here about them.
First comment is they come in a box and packaging that is devoid of any part number or application comments.
THat is minor, but if you were to order a set for one bike and another set for another you would not be able to tell which set is for which bike.
Two are wrapped with an L lable, and two are wrapped with a R lable.
And If look real hard can find an L inprinted in the rubber on the two, and on the others an R but in a different place.
General quality looked okay.
I didnt like that the clamps look like ordininary hose clamps.
THe orings seems thinner than stock, and fit tight in the groove, and fit down into the groove so much that didnt seem to extend above the surface much. But then again, wasnt much room for it to expand either.
I went to some effort to keep the L and the R on the proper side, and held in place with the L and R on top like the stock ones do. I think I did quickly turn the other way just to see, and it did seem like should be with the L - R up.
Instllation went well.
Only took a little pushing and wiggling to get carbs into the boots. I lightly tightened the clamps.
Only took a little pushing and wiggling to get the airbox back on over the carbs. I lightly tightened the clamps.
THen was the problem.
Air box mounting not lining up witbh the mount tabs on the bike frame.
Tried lifting up on the box and was still about 3/8" low to get the screws thru the mounting.
Had to loosen up the intake boot clamps a little, and the air box boots a little, then could get the airbox in position to get mounting screws thru the tabs.
But now can see the carbs not completly flush with the intake boots.

Hum... makes me wonder if the boots should have been rotated around the other way (L and R not up).
Ran okay. Went for about 25 minute ride. Idle stayed okay, no hanging high idle (like had last summer, and I parked it). But the temps for todays ride was in low 50s.
ANybody used these Moto1988 boots? ANy comments?
