Float Valve
I have carbs apart on gs650g and am wondering if a total replacement is neccesary[needle& seatand jets} I soaked them in solvent and they appear to be alright but am wondering if they should be changed out for new or not. They want $32 or each float valve set or $33 for a kit for each carb The $130 question??? Already have the o ring set .Just thinking this may not be the time to go cheap Please Advise ThanksTags: None -
It's somewhat rare to have to replace the float needle and seat. I suggest you inspect the tip of the float needle to see if its worn, and replace it if it is (Z1 Enterprises sells the float needles separately). Also the spring in the float needle should hold up the weight of the float by itself so consider replacement if it compresses under the weight of the float.Ed
To measure is to know.

If there is a ring around the point of the needle where you can catch a finger nail in replace.
If the plunger doesn't return smooth and quickly replace it.
If the seats have any pits or grooves replace.
Otherwise I'd use them.Comment
