      yes it is a stock airbox and i dont think this filter requires oiling, everything is sealed and clamped tightly

        Check the length of the fuel line and see that the top of the loop is not above the center of the carb bodies. DITCH THE ADDITIONAL FUEL FILTER.

          CHEF right now i have 2 shims on each needle, you suggest 1 more for a total of 3?

            more info, the bike idles smoothly at 1100 rpms and has loads of topend, its just that middle part thats the problem

                Is it lean or rich when it is having this problem? Sounds like too lean.
                Easy enough to try a different number of shims.
                First, are the float levels adjusted correctly?
                Are all of the jet sizes correct?

                              Did you remove the plastic spacer over the clip on the jet needle and replace it with some washers aka shims?

                              1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.
