Airbox compatibility 79 GS850

Hello all,

I need an airbox for my 79 GS850. I have found some on-line for the 80-83 models, but I know that the later model GS850's used a different carb. Will the airbox for those still fit the 79 model?

No, you need the airbox that same year as the carbs. box to carb boots are differant as well.

What about 82-83 airbox on 80 850

Part numbers for 82-83 are different than 80-81 but I believe the carbs are the same. Would I be able to fit the later model airbox on my 1980 850GT?

You need a 79GS850.. 80 up is different or a 77-79 GS750 I think will also work

Sorry...Guess I hijacked Bob167881's thread. I have been lurking for quite a while now but am just starting to post.
My 850 is a 1980 GT and I was asking if it would be posssible to get an airbox from a 1982 model to fit on my bike. Both are the CV carbs but according to the parts fiches the airboxes are different. Just wondering if anyone has been able to get one from an 82 or 83 to fit on an 80 or 81 model. Any input would be appreciated.
