replacing choke cable
apparently over the winter time, something caused my choke cable to seize up... I can't move the cable inside at all, completely stuck in place... I can still manually pull down on the carbs and use that as a choke, but, that's kind of a pain in the ass..... anybody have a good how-to on replacing a choke cable on a 1980 GS550E? I'd really appreciate itTags: None

Hi,
Just check the cable routing in your manual. The manual calls the choke cable the "starter" cable. Here's the routing for my 850:
Take off the tank, and put the new cable where the old one is. The connection on the carbs should look something like this:
The choke is on the right, throttle on the left:
They both use a "ball in slot" connection. Manipulate the choke so that you can take to ball out of its slot:
Loosen the clamp holding the cable:
It will be really self-explanatory once you get started.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
