Not a Suzuki, but need help.....

My roommate has a 2009 Honda Rebel 250 and the bike doesn't want to stay running after you turn the choke completely off. Even after riding for several miles, if she turns the choke off the bike will die when she comes to a stop.....any idea what could be the problem or how to fix it...?

Idle simply set too low??

Two things spring to mind.
1) the carb idle setting is too low. The bike should be able to idle around 1200 rpm
2) more likely (if it won't idle) the carb(s) are gunked up and need a cleaning and rebuild.

What you could try before ripping into the carbs would be to add a half can of Seafoam to a tank of gas and ride it all through. You may need a second tank full but this could clean out the gunge.

I should emphasize that there is no substitute for cleaning the carbs thoroughly if you want them to run right. Have a look at the carb rebuild tutorial. Not exactly the same as hers but close enough to show you how it should go.
