    pulled off carbs

i removed the carbs and when i started to disassemble them i noticed screws missing. the 2 missing r for carb #3 that hold the diaphram. will that cause the bike not 2 idle? im still gonna clean and rebuild the carbs because im anal about stuff like that. i was telling my friend and his father about this website and everything im reading here they r saying is wrong.

The diaphrams are held in place by the cover which is help in place by four screws on CV carbs. You saying the top was missing a couple of screws?

Might help if we knew what bike?

What bike are you talking about? I'm guessing it's one fitted with CVs but if you tell the guys here a bit more they'll be able to help more.

As for 'everything im reading here they r saying is wrong' - well there's some folk who try and help but don't quite get it right but mostly the guys who help with the technical questions know there onions. And some of those guys know more about setting up and fixing this range of bikes than anyone else.

forgot its a 85 gs 700 e. my so called friend had a gs 450 and his father has a gs 1100 (disassembled in parts) so they think they know more than me because of this. the sad part is im a toyota tech and im more into fuek injection, not carbs. i am not saying i cant do it, its i dont have experince doing carb work, everthing else i can do no problem. oh yeah, yes 2 of the 4 screws r missing. im guessing p.o was in there doing something 2 make the bike seem like it was maintaned well or something.

          Hi,

Oh ye of little faith. Just follow the carb rebuild series and you'll be wonderful. Don't listen to the naysayers. If you need parts, they can either be ordered online or obtained from someone's garage. Put a post in the "Parts Wanted" section. Keep us informed.

          Thank you for your indulgence,
