    What tank is this?

    Looks like a 1000 G tank, but there is only one mount bolt hole in the back? Don't all the G tanks have the two rear mounts?

    It does not look like a 1980 1000 E tank to me.

    That would be the '80/'81 tank for 850 or 1000G.

    Starting in '82 they had the two bolts at the rear.

          Looks like a 1980 GS1100E tank.
          1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
          1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

                Last week i parted out a 1979 GS850.
                The tank is the same, around 22'' from the mounting hole to the top
                gas cap not centered and the petcock at the rear.
                The ''ridge'' on top too are the same.

                  tank model ????

                  hi guys i,ve got a 1980 gs1000e,,, it has a different tank than shown,, with a resecessed part for cap and it central not offset as that tank is.. it also has 50mm mounting holes for petcock which is vacume not twist lever. hope this helps regards david
