Petcock
I took my stock petcock all apart and cleaned it real good. Even did a little blow and suck test on it and it seemed to work. But after installed, it didn't work. I could never trust it. So I just clamped the gasline off with some tiny Vicegrips. That after a few months cut a hole in the gasline and dumped gas all over. I checked on Petcocks and they were asking 85 dollars for them. So I'm going to try a 5/16 inline petcock for 20 Bucks. Will that work? Or am I just sucking and blowing for no reason.[SIGPIC1980 GS1000E

yea the gaskets were old but the carbs werent leaking so im assuming they are doing their job.
it ran just fine.no stumbling,idling fine,great power.
is it possible for the airbox to get gas in it even if its running??doesnt make sense to me but neither does the airbox filling with gas ha
I know nothing about the petcock you're talking about. Anyone?
Check Z1. As far as I know they have the best product for the price.
Its what I have on my bike and it works perfect.

Im really not real sure about the valve leaking while the bike is running, mine didnt but I wouldnt be surprised.
A new petcock will leak if left on prime while parked. Ask me how I know.sigpic

im not sure either, doesnt make sense to me.i mean if the bike is running it should burn the gas.it seems to me that wether the petcock is on pri or on its the same amount of fuel going to carbs so as long as its running it should burn.
UNLESS mayyybe the guy i bought it from already had the airbox flooded when i bought it,but this bike was bone dry till i got it home, which is whats confusing me.why start leaking on the ride home.not on the test drive?the gas that was dripping out was nasty,at first i thought it was oil,so i quess it could have had fuel in the box when i bought it.

On prime its gravity that makes it work.sigpic

OH...this is painful. Thanks Cliff for making every attempt.
You need 4 intake orings (if you need them).
You need to determine where the fuel is leaking FROM...not leaking to. We all know where it is going to leak to. Pull the vacuum line off the #2 carb for the petcock and see if there is any fuel dripping out it. Pull the fuel line from the T (with the petcock in the RUN position) and see if there is any fuel leaking from there.
