    Popping out exhaust...

    Popping out exhaust...

Trying to diagnose my '83 GS1100GK - new orings, carbs cleaned, airbox sealed, new plugs. Petcock was disassembled, cleaned, functions well.
Cylinder #2 seems to not want to fire on cold startup (startup is reluctant, at best). Will catch after a bit, some gassy smoke emitted at the same time. Pops (backfires slightly?) out left exhaust, probably related to cyl #2. Changed plug cap, no difference. Adjusted air screw out, made it a bit better but still pops a bit.
Hint as to the real problem?

    #2
    Hi,

Trouble with #2 cylinder? The usual suspect is the petcock. It may be leaking fuel down the vacuum line. Replacement is most often prescribed. Are you sure your carbs are really clean?

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff
