I have done a couple of searches looking for the size studs that others have used when switching from bolts to studs and couldn't find what I was looking for. My engine uses bolts that are M8x1.25x45. Would I want a stud that length or shorter or longer. The max lenght the local part store can get is 45mm. What have you guys and gals had luck using?

What pipes are you using?
I would assume that different exhausts requires different length studs.
Use a punch, or a nail, or something else you can fit into the hole and measure it.sigpic

It is the stock exhaust with stock cast aluminum flanges. The stock bolts are 45mm. Would studs need to be longer or same length?Comment

Use 2 inch stainless steel set screws. Put them in with the normal allen wrench that fits them.That is what is in all my bikes..screw having broken exhaust studs. This fixes thaty problem permanently and they can be taken out later if you or anyone who buys it wishes to do so.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
