Turns out Cycle Gear doesn't stock them, to the phone book!
Turns out classic motorcycle parts are tough to find in Phoenix. Had the same problem trying to locate a 630 chain, which prompted me to do the 530 conversion. Oh well, had Cycle Gear order them up, $20 for a set of 45s and 47.5s, should be here by Friday, maybe Monday. Gives me time to finish up a few odds and ends.Last edited by Guest; 06-29-2010, 05:07 PM.

I think I keep the local Cycle Gear in business with the jets.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

Some Progress...
Alright. Small successes, so far. My parts showed up mid-week, and I finally found the time to work on the bike today. Installed the correct set of pilot jets, (45s, I'll install the 47.5s after I get through emissions) and voila! She started right up, and immediately idled dead smooth at about 1050-1100 rpm. Needed about 1/4 choke for about half a minute, then idled fine on her own. She catches and starts running on about the 2nd or 3rd rotation, it's nearly instant. Air temperature is about 103 degrees today. Bike was dead cold. I have the DJ 138s in, but did not install the optional air-jets that came with the kit. Mixture screws are 2.5 turns out. Still need to sync the carbs, but I'm not terribly far off, according to my Carbtune Pro. Throttle response is smooth (no load, bike on centerstand), with no obvious bogs or sputters throughout the RPM range. There is very little hesitation, even when opening the throttle quickly. The engine comes down from high RPMs at the same speed as it goes up through the revs, there are no symptoms of intake side air leaks. However, the knocking sound that I originally took the bike off the road for is still present. Nuts.Last edited by Guest; 07-10-2010, 05:00 PM.
