Please LMK where you live. I will come over and take it off your hands, do a carb rebuild, and have and excellent town bike. Or do it yourself, your call. Whether you do it, or I do it, a carb rebuild is the only answer. I don't know how the forum can make it any clearer.

Maybe....the thing is, you'll never be able to diagnose it or tune it correctly until the carbs are clean, the valves adjusted and the electrical system is checked.

This is why we harp on the "new guys" to properly clean and rebuild the carbs, etc.....these three items set a solid baseline for the remaining work, if there's any required. Normally it's things like sealing the airbox, tuning the idle in, any electrical issues that may arise, suspension, brakes, etc.....

            Check your fuel mixture screws.
That what was causing my 650 to stumble and never hold idle below 1600rpms.....actually wouldn't go below 2000 at first.

Checked the tank for rust, cleaned it out.

Did the valves, that helped A TON with my Idle speed.

If you're bike isn't holding idle, it's either a clog in the Pilot Jet(which WAS in that picture you showed us), or there may be a clog elsewhere.

You need to make sure you have the correct foam air filter and apply a thin oil to it. And make sure the airbox is sealed tight(use weatherstripping).

Also make sure the carb boots are TIGHT!
(you're RPM's will hang if you actually have an air leak)

            -------

If you want a possible quick fix, just dissasemble the carbs, spray em out with carb cleaner really good, spray it down ALL of the holes and tubes, then hook up an Air Compressor and spray air down ALL of the same holes/tubes.
Then do it 3 or 4 more times, lol.

(get one of those crappy air-drying trigger nozzles with the hand grip at wal-mart for like $5, it's in the compressor section, they are used to dry cars or engines off at dealerships, they have a small enough point on them.)

Everyone will say that you must dip the carbs, i disagree.
I went thru 4 cans cleaning up my carbs, been riding for 6 months, never had a problem yet. PB Blaster also works good too.

Carbs are sensitive to changes in amounts of fuel and air, thus must be clean (ie no gummed up fuel or debris). The cleaning process needs to be done diligently and with patience, much like anything done with carbs. Ensure you are working in a very clean environment, use lots of Q-tips, and take breaks.

so i think i might have some rust in the tank re clogging the carbs..

                is this possible?..

anything to take care of the tank?

heres where i started, just to try and help ya out. first, i came on the forums and read my azz off. second i took off my tank and carbs. cleaned tank out, was pretty clean to start with. then i tore the carbs down as per basscliffs pages, this too me was a huge help, pictures for us retards...lol...rebuilt the barbs after dipping each one for 24hours each. bought new o-ring set from the guy on here who sells them for like 14 bucks, steal in my book. bought new fuel lines and vacuum lines. while carbs where soaking i adjusted the valves, they were all well within specs so didnt turn a screw. just fired her about 30 minutes ago and bam, shes alive. now this was on a bike that sat for ahhhh about 3-10 years, guy wouldnt really tell me the truth...
so if it where me, id dip the carbs, replace o-rings, adjust valves and clean out the tank.
this is the knowledge you need because if you dont do these things you'll be asking questions every 15 minutes about why it does this and that...
                  hey have fun with it...
this has been a public broadcasting by
                  SKD....lol

It looks like we have finally stumbled onto a big part of the problem.
