    Gas tank

I have to replace my 1980 GS 750's gas tank. Does anyone know if the gas tank is specific to the GS750, and that perticular year? Or, can i swap one out from another year or model GS, a 1979 GS 550 for example?

Best of luck with the search.

What is the issue with your old tank? Rust inside? Rust outside? Holes? Dents? Theft? Lent? Little green men who stay up far too late partying?

You may be able to repair. All depends though, right?

Is the tank from an "E" or "L" ?

Best way for us to help with the model is to post a pic of the whole bike and then there should be instant recognition by a large majority of members. A couple of different views in good lighting.

                  Your bike

You have an 'E' with 'L' style handlebars, not exactly 'L' maybe. The '80 GS 1100E tank is probably the same, on-line parts diagrams show them both having the same bolts, spacers and grommets, and identical gas caps, but if frame dimensions aren't identical, then no go, somebody on here must know. Good luck.
