how many turn out of pilot air screw of 83 GS1100

can anyone tell how many turn out of pilot air screw of the carbs of 83 GS1100-16v?
which is located at the front of the carbs near by the carb boot, and it is also on the top.

I messed it up and can not find it in the service manual. hope someone can help.
the bike is everything stock excep the pipe.

It should be 2.5 turns. I am running 3.0, but I think it is incorrect.

There's really no set value. I usually set mine at a turn and a half and then adjust each one for the highest, smoothest idle I can get out of each carb. Once you start getting about 4 turns out you are essentially off the jet and running wide open on it.

        True! Ditto!
Mine are anywhere form 3-3.5 turns out.
        I'm not stock though.

Adjustment will also depend on the size pilot jet you're running. If you're running oversize pilots your adjustment may be less that the 2.5 - 3.0 turns.

          Thanks,

Thanks a lot. I will try by 2.5 turn out at beginning, after balance the carbs at 2000rpm, then to fine turn on idle each carb at 1100rpm.
            Many thanks.

I take in the screws slowly while running until you hear a slight decrease in the idle. Then I take out the screw a half turn.

                I live dangerously.

I listen for the decrease then back off 1/4 turn.

They are usually in the region of 2.5 turns out at that point.

The manual won't have any information on that because they were "preset at the factory" and were NOT supposed to be touched.
That is why they were under the sealed plugs, to discourage tinkering with the EPA-mandated lean settings.

I have a stock 550E and the factory settings were in the 2-1/2 to 3 turns range. When I did the carbs I started at 3 and ended up opening them a little to get it right.

Don't know if it applies to the 1100 you have, but I would guess that for the "year model" so to speak the adjustments would be pretty close to the same.
