Tool dealers sell radiator hose removal "hooks" that help to get the boot lip over the carb bells

Removing the battery & battery box bolts really helps, it doesnt gain a lot of room but every little bit helps. Put the throttle cable back on before putting the carbs in the manifolds unless you really like doing things the hard way. Ive had mine off & on 11 times until I was satisfied with the jetting combo
