float height to low or to high

My sig is my bike. Just a question in general. How does the bike react when the float height is too low like 20mm or how does it react if it is too high say 25mm?? Adjusted my floats because they were around 20mm I think. I just raised them up to 22.4mm. No 1 plug is kind of black and a little wet with a mixture turn of 1 3/4. Plugs 2,3 and 4 are fine tanish color with the screws out around 3 to 3 1/2. Is that okay? Bike idles perfect and runs awesome with no popping on deceleration. Thanks in advance.

A high fuel level will occur with the measurement set low since the carbs are up side down when you check the float height. High fuel will make the bike run slightly more rich, mostly at low rpm. The best way to check fuel level is with a height gauge, not by measuring float height. It's pretty easy to make a gauge so you might want to consider this if you really want to know what's going on.

But, why the difference in screw turns on #1 v. the others?

What happens if you put #1 at 3 to 3 1/2 turns?

I might try that Nessism, thanks. #1 was at 2 1/2 and after every ride I would check my plugs and adjust the screws according to the color of the plug. When #1 plug was kind of black and a little wet I kept on leaning the mixture hoping that the color of the plug will be a tanish color like the rest. I'm thinking the plug will be really wet and black if I put it at 3 to 3 1/2 turns.

Like Ed mentions on measuring the actual fuel height will tell you if the floats are causing it. Easy enough to make a screw with a nipple and some clear tubing to check.

But, with that many turns difference might pull the #1 screw to inspect if the tip is good, just to verify it's not broken off and the tip is missing if you have not already. Another culpret could be the choke/enrichening plunger not seating completely. Then I would double check the sync of the carbs as well before and after any changes.

Plug wire and plug cap on #1 are in good condition I assume.
