    jetting

    just installed a kerker KR roadrace pipe i found on craigslist, used in mid 80's, looking for jetting tips, my carbs are stock, be nice to get close, save some time, be nice to keep the air box, but i know this pipe wants to breathe, air pod arnt outta the question, if anybody has a good starting point. The pipe looks real good,, i will post some pics soon when its runnin.

    Well if you specified:
    the engine
    the carbs
    the intake (pods or filter)
    engine mods
    altitude
    Jet kit?

    maybe Chef will give you a good startingpoint.

      Without all those specs that posplayer has requested, the best we can suggest is to go up 5 or 6 sizes on the main, raise the needle a bit and richen the pilot mixture a bit.

        Well, come on, now.......He's expecting the "old timers" with mega-post counts like you guys to be able to glean the information by looking at his avatar and screen name. Y'know we do voodo-magic here.......

          Well I tried but the avitar was soo small I could make out what carbbies he has. Also not even sure what bike that is? 8V or 16V?


          Ok i searched his posts............

          ya, ive come across some weird wire splices myself,(gs1000,79),
          I would suggest starting with a DJ jet kit. if it is like a 16V you will need teh DJ needles to run right. Of course again assuming CV's

            sorry guys, i cant believe i left out the best part, my baby is a 79 gs 1000 skunk, its poppin some down low, havent done a plug check, im runnin on battery now, also have the charging problem, so i carry my trickle charger w/ me, but its a better bike w/ the pipe and rear sets, i love old school rides, thanks!
