    Yeah the paint will smoke.

When you say one side was hotter...one side of what?

I would not worry, it sounds pretty normal, there are plenty reasons it could be, one side running slightly leaner than the other, slight casting differences between the two sides, resulting on more material to lead the heat away on one side etc etc, but a 30 degree diff is nothing to be concerned about air cooled engines generaly have a temp range of 200 - 460 deg F that they can be safely operated in.
The new paint will smoke a bit on the first one or two rides until it has cured and settled properly.
        Enjoy.

Very true, but even I gave up asking others to use them long time ago.

You are new to the forum. You will soon see that not everybody is as perfect as we are.

Hopefully you will learn to read what is meant.

I wouldn't even bother trying to read it.
If he can't be bothered to lift a finger a few times to make something clear and readable, why should I strain my brain to try to guess what he might have meant?

Can I ask how you measured the temps ?
We've got infra red bizzo's at my work and they are quite accurate IF you get real close to what you are measuring . At best , they are indication only . I used one on my exhausts and got all flustered because they were all different . Silly me .
                I wouldn't get concerned if I was you .
Your paint will smoke and fume for a while but it'll come good .

If you were saving my arse in a fire , I wouldn't be real concerned about any punctuation marks either .

                Cheers , Simon .

I can say, though, if my arse were that hot and smoking, you'd be hearing some loudly verbalized punctuation marks...
