Final Success with My Carburetors GS1000E
After many hard lessons, I finally have my carburetors properly jetted, adjusted and synced for K&N's and V&H 4 into 1 pipes. I made one mistake that has been plaguing me throughout this ordeal. I never could get the bike to rev smoothly from 7,000 through Red Line after installing the stage 3 jet kit. It never showed itself up until recently when after changing plugs and checking plug color, that the number 2 plug looked new when the other three had colored. I changed plugs again with the same results. DRUM ROLL HERE. I knew at this point it was either the wire or cap. The cap pulled right off with little effort. I cut the wire back 1/2", separated the strands and screwed the cap back in. It was so smooth that I found myself deep into Red Line before I knew it. I backed down after it pulled a wheelie in third with a big grin on my face. The screw on the cap must have slid to the side of the wire when I put it on. It seemed to run ok until it was asked to work in the higher RPM range where it would break down and run mostly on three cylinders. That explains why my keys would rattle so loud when I hit the upper RPM's. Many thanks to Keith Krause who initially set me on the path to do this properly, and the many others along the way.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.Tags: None
