    replacing carb boots

I want to replace the boots on my 84 gs400s and having removed the carbs previouslyto clean I am not looking forward to going through that hassle again. Is there some "easy" way to remove the boots without removing the carbs? I am definitely going to rplace the abominable phillips head screws and replace with allen heads. in hindsight I should have done this at the same time.

Sorry but if you are talking about the intake to carb boots than no. In fact, you cannot reach the screws without taking off the carb and even then you'll want to remove the battery box and air box to get an impact driver in there.

          carb boots

Carbs are off. Most difficulut part was thinking about it. No need for impact driver. Applied lots of penetrating oil night before, moved air box back as far as it would go then removed carbs. Took a pair vise grip pliers and grasped the outside screw, gave it about 1/4 turn then removed easily with offset screwdirver. Inside screw a bit trickier but held an offset in the screw and applied pressure while gently tapping the boot in a counter clockwise direction till the screw became loose. Again about 1/4 turn. Really wasn't all that difficult. O rings were hard and flat. Now to put it all back together this time using allen head screws.
