    carb boot softness?

How soft should the boots be? The current boots on my bike look to be in very good condition, all the rubber is there. However, how soft should they be? Any tests? They look like they have no cracks, but they aren't as pliable as the airbox boots, and they feel kind of stiff. However, it is fairly thick rubber.

Here's a vid of the original ones. I bought a set on ebay, but they feel about the same, the "new" ones are a little softer than the ones in the vid.

If there in good shape I wouldn't worry, Once they have been run on an engine for a few hours they will soften up some

As long as they can get a grip on the carbs, there are no cracks or separations, and they're not ROCK hard, use 'em.

Minor peeling around the edges (where the rubber is only a thin coating over the aluminum) is no concern.
