Pine Sol for carb dip
I found this on a Honda Nighthawk website. A lot of them claim to have tried it and no complaints. Anyone ever heard of it before? Any thoughts?

Cant see it, Id have member up. It is a degreaser so... Maybe if was done in a warm pot of the stuff for a day or so. It takes the crud off most other stuff.

Seems the Honda site isnt the only place. HAMB, KZ's site and XS site and a list of others. Search PineSol for cleaning carbs. A gallon of Berryman's costs about $20. But this Pinesol might actually be worth a try I have like 10 gallons of Pinesol... Should I do it? I haven't cleaned the carbs yet.

There was buzz a while back (maybe still?) about boiling carbs in lemon juice so I tried. Turned the carb body dark. Not good. Maybe I left it in the sauce too long? Not sure but I don't see the point in straying away from the tried and true.Ed

the wifey uses pinesol to clean many household items. It does a pretty good job of it but I haven't tried it with carbs. She dilutes it a lot with water.1979 GS850G

I was able to see the thread and all the pictures and the results were amazing considering all he did was soak the carb bank in the Pinesol overnight.

Those Webber carbs on the 914 site came out nice but he said it lost it's kick after a few carbs..
My Napa dip can is going strong after cleaning a rack of carbs, brake parts, and loads of nuts and bolts..
Might be worth trying on larger parts like heads and cases.. It would be easy to mix up a big rubbermaid tub of the stuff..

ED the lemon juice thing will turn any aluminum dark from the citric acid..I tried Naval jelly once on a suggestion on some old clutch covers before doing it to my good engine and it seems the phosphoric acid in that does the same thing..i think its all about any acid will darken the aluminum..MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
