    Carb Sync Wrench - Am I missing something obvious?

    Anyone else find adjusting the sync between #3 and #2 carb to be frustrating? I can't imagine doing it without the special tool, but short of boring a big hole in that frame cross-piece (which I'm not planning to do, don't worry), has anyone found a trick that allows better access to get the tool in there and better grip on that nut? Maybe nudge that choke cable housing holder a bit more to the left?

    PS ...And this is probably a total noob question, but putting pressure on those nuts (to tighten or loosen) will always cause a drop in rpm, right? I'm basically flexing the throttle stop?

    Why not remove the choke cable assembly?

      OK, yah, well #1 obvious thing I might be missing.

      I'm so used to working on bicycles, I tend to assume that all housed cables are under tension pretty much all the time, which, now that I think about it, is not true of the choke cable, which is only under tension when the choke's engaged.

        Hi,

        Yes, I must remove the choke/throttle assembly to give me room to get the tool in there. It's still not a perfect fit but it's workable. I don't disconnect the cables, just take them loose from the top of the carbs so they're not in the way.

                I use the exact same technique. Also, thanks for the tips, guys, I'm actually looking forward to trying again without that dang metal bit, ehem... choking off my access to the nut.
