79 GS 1000E fuel gauge
I have a non-responsive fuel gauge on my bike. Is there a testing procedure for the sending unit that goes in the gas tank? I am trying to determine if the problem is the sending unit or the gauge itself.Tags: None

unplug the two wire from the tank to the guage..use a bent piece of wire to jump from one to the other on the guage side of the wires. If the guage goes up this will eliminate the guage.Last edited by chuck hahn; 09-13-2010, 02:55 PM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Give me some credit guys, at least I used the advanced search before just asking away.
I woke up this 10 year old thread to seek information as to what I can do to correct my sending unit problem.
There's a very small type of a wire coming from a solder drop that goes to the board with the wires that sends the signal for the fuel gauge. Mine has come loose and therefore leaving my gauge useless. What can I do to fix this? I will attach a picture of what I'm talking about, if I can remember how to do that.
Pic will be in next post.Larry
