I need some info on the hole that exists in the diaphragm area of gs 1100 gl shafty,, 1982. Looking from above, there is a drilled hole at the 2 oclock position, it appears to have brass in it about a half inch down. I cannot clear this hole, even with the wire. Where does this hole communicate to, it appears on my exploded view to communicate with the pilot circuit but if so thats blocked, does anyone have any good ideas on how to clear this?? I am done cleaning these carbs but cant get this one thing done, aaarrrgghh.

Have you looked at it from the other side i.e. float bowl off? Sounds to me as if you may be describing the main jet, needle jet or pilot jet.

yes saltymonk thats the hole
Hi, Yes, thats what its doing, but it doesnt appear to be allowing spray out the other side, where ever that may communicate with, I just want to know its clear but with all the spray just coming back on me, it doesnt appear to be clear thru. Do you know where it should be coming out???? My diagram makes it look like it communicates with the pilot system, or would have an outlet into the bowl or throttle area since its a vacuum connection, am I right on that even??

yes Hampshire its picture 89, that hole
Hi,
Yes I ve gone over that whole thing, and its picture number 89, I cannot find where the carb spray should come out if sprayed into that hole. Thats what I need to know, but another poster has said, it just sprays back at you,, what the,,, ?? Why would that happen if it werrent plugged.

Edit: Checked the passage on a set of BS34 carbs and that passage is plugged from the top; it feeds fuel into the pilot screw passage but there is another cross drilled passage that interconnects with it and the passage in question is plugged. If you look down into the passage using a flashlight it's easy to see the plug.

ok, I can use that !
Thanks for the info, I had separately decided to ignore that one, since one of the other guys said that it always just sprays back the spray. Thanks for your input. I had seen some brass down there, but a cutaway pic made it appear that there was a jet there to communicate with the pilot circuit, I guess it does but not thru a jet hole there. Thanks again.
