Hi don. No, I'll be using a slightly modified stock 550 intake and filterbox. Mostly just derestricted (the same way I run the 550 now.)
I saw that the stock 650 jetting is 110's, and one of them 107.5's.
I run 110's on my 550 now.
I tend to rejet just about everything I get, in any case.
I just purchased some 650 carbs. I see the jet needle and needle jet may be different part numbers between the 550 and 650's.
The 650 carbs may have parts that are better for the conversion. We will see. Never can have too many racks of carbs laying around, in my opinion.

They might. I have a feeling the 'derestricted' 550 setup might have a tad more flow than the stock 650, and all of these were lean from the factory to meet EPA restrictions, anyway. But it'll be close enough to get it running to read some plugs.

Yep, Don, just removed airbox lid, and used filter spray on the stock filter. All that's needed on these. The 550's like 110 to 115 mains, and a slightly richer air-screw setting depending on your altitude. It's amazing how much power the 550 picks up with lid removal and proper jetting.
I mean, it's honestly amazing.
Sometime I go to the dyno, I might bring a 550 with some jets and an airbox lid and get a concrete reading on it, but I gotta say, it's the easiest go-fast thing I've ever seen. Makes sense, since these were severely restricted and leaned-out to meet EPA standards.
