    carbs way out of sync

Well I feel as if I’m getting close to solving the problem I have been having with this bike (1987 gs 450l).

When I went to adjust the idle mixture I tried running the bike one cylinder at a time. The "right" cylinder ran fine with the other one unplugged. When I tried the reverse the bike would not start or idle on the "left" cylinder until I gave it about 1/8 throttle then it would idle fine.

I guess it’s time to adjust sync. Anybody have any suggestions for how to do it with this bike the adjustment screw is in a very tight place and at an odd angle

A set of gauges is the best way.

Some ingenious folk have devised other methods, but gauges are still best.

Have you done a GOOD bench sync?

A bread tie with the paper stripped off WORKS VERY WELL!!!
Use the gauge of the wire as your closed plate measurement and work from there. Morgan Carb Tune is a GREAT device though you "don't have to" use one..

Sounds like #1 is about right and #2 is a little rich, thus the need for a little throttle opening...

What bike are you working on?

Have you checked your valve adjustment lately?

No sense syncing the carbs until the valves have been checked/adjusted.
