its an 1980. its the second one in from the right if you are sitting on it, the other three are normal. I should also note that i dumped the old gas, put a new petcock on and put new fuel in it.

        Greetings and Salutations!!

        Hi Mr. Dirt28,

This scenario is usually brought about by an over-full crankcase. Usually a bad petcock, in combination with bad float valves/seats in the carbs, will allow fuel to leak into the crankcase, diluting the oil, raising the level, and crankcase pressure will force it up through the breather and into the airbox.

Check the oil for a gas smell. If there is gas in the oil, do not run the engine. Change the oil, fix the carbs, replace the petcock, etc. It's all in your "mega-welcome". Let me share some GS lovin'.

Check that you don't have gasoline in your oil. If the petcock failed, gas can run into your crankcase.

Are you using the air filter or has it been removed?
