'82 1100EZ, idle speed is 750. bike stalls after about 5 miles of riding in heavy rain. can restart after 10 mins; no miss firing. could it be idle is too slow? thks.

I know on my 650 it has a hard time idling that low. mine is set around 1200. not sure what the recommend speed is on yours though

      Hi,

Most of the GS models idle at 1050 rpm +/- 100 rpm. Are you using pod filters?

      Thank you for your indulgence,

Yes, idle is too slow. Also, does it only do this in the rain or all the time? If it does it all the time, check your gas cap vent. Ray.

          Only in rain?

He said "heavy rain"- enough to interfere with gas cap vent? hmmm

              Either you in my opinion
              Have bad spark plug wires
              Leaky ignition cover
Bad connection somewhere at the ignition and water is interfering

Was also wondering if this stalling only happens in the rain. Sounds like a fuel venting issue to me too. Check the gas cap and also be sure any floatbowl vent lines are clear.
Idle is too low. Should be about 1,000 to 1,100.
And on the seventh day, after resting from all that he had done,God went for a ride on his GS!
Upon seeing that it was good, he went out again on his ZX14! But just a little bit faster!

Thanks guys for your input; looks like the problem lies in two areas: fuel supply and electrical. I will check out the fuel supply options first as the bike could start ( after 10 mins) whilst still in the rain.
