Ride it with the cap off (obviously not with a full tank!)... - no it should not hiss. That would suggest the breather is blocked.1980 GS1000G - Sold

That other conector looks like for the gauges maybe the gear indicator?

The are the two plugs on my 1100EZ ignitor, Which has the same plugs as my '82 750EZ ignitor. The four wire goes to the wiring harness and the two wire goes to the pickup plate.

This is an ignitor and pickup from an '82 1100/750
The ignitor is mounted to the battery box in behind the rear master cylinder.

Ed, I swapped out the igniter, it ran better, pulled well beyond 6k but did bogg out at about 9k, shift to second and it felt more powerful and did not bogg at all. Than it killed as I slowed down and will not start. I walked it home.

Also when I rev it in the garage with the cap off, I can redline it without bogging...put the cap back on and went for another ride and same thing bogs at 6-7k?????
I agree with Salty Monk, take it for a quick ride with the gas cap half installed or removed. Your Gas Cap is pretty nasty, not sure were the vent is eitherSteve
