    Factory fuel tank brazing?

So I took the used GS850 fuel tank out of the blast cabinet and found three tiny braze points along the outside of the seam.

I bought this from Bob's here in Phoenix as it was less dented than mine on my 79 and looked pretty good on the inside from what I can see.

So I'm wondering - did the factory do any spot brazing on new tanks or have I bought someone else's former leaker?

Post some high resolution photos so we can see what you are talking about. If the photos are uploaded to photobucket then you can link the [img] code here to show the images.

The factory did do some brazing (I think) but I can't tell you much from your description.

Thanks Snoopy - I'll get some up Tuesday. A couple of the spots are so tiny that I used a magnifying glass to get a good look... then another was quite long and a lot more obvious.

You probably could just silver solder the pin holes rather than go to the trouble of brazing.

Better off silver brazing I think.
