    carb vacuum sync tool trouble

can someone tell how in the world you get the carb vacuum sync tool in between the #3 and #2 carbs? my tool is interfering with the choke cable and throttle mounting brackets that are on the carbs. i just can t seem to to get the right angle to get in there.

Sorry we need more info. What bike are we talking? I'm also not following what you mean. Are you talking about the screwdriver/wrench tooL? If you are, it should go straight to the adjuster when the tank is removed. No real mystery to it.

Please give us some more info and maybe a pic to illustrate your issue.

    Cheers,

I'm guessing you have a CV carb bike

If you're using the combo screwdriver/wrench from Motion Pro, it should go in there with just a bit of fiddling around

        Hi,

Yes, on my bike the frame gets in the way a little. So does the choke assembly. I have to loosen the choke assembly from the top of the #2 carb so that the tool fits better. It's not a perfect fit, but it's enough to make the adjustments. Be firm but gentle.

        See if this helps...

Assuming this is the tool you're using.

Unscrew the idle cable bracket from the number two carb. "Prop" it out of the way, just enough to fit the tool. Put the screws back into the top of the carb with the bracket setting to the side but still on top of the carb.
          It'll work fine.

it a 80 GS850L yes im using the carb tool in the picture but i made my own. it worked on all but #2 carb i think i need to make it longer but i need a longer screwdriver. i work a machine shop and operate a CNC waterjet. so i try to make what tools and parts i can. i just hate to spend $25 bucks on a tool that i may never use again

Get another bike and use it again..
Just kidding. Im sure the tool you made is just about as good.

Disconnect the linkage like I said.

                HI,

That tool should be used every time you sync the carbs. You should sync the carbs every time you adjust the valves. You should check the valve adjustment every 4000 miles.

yea i have it home. basically i took a el cheapo 8mm 1/4 drive socket and welded a piece of 1/8 wall SS tubing to it. made a handle to turn the assembly on the locknut and dropped a long screwdriver in the top. ill post some pics

I just roll the throttle on slightly to move the nut out, attach the tool, release the throttle, and adjust. The tight fit may skew the results slightly, but it only takes a few seconds to redo/compensate and get it exact.

Sounds just like the one I got from Morgan.
AS a matter of fact yours is prolly better than the one I got from Morgan.
It serves the purpose but whoever made didnt hurt themselves on quality.
