    Carb jetting for GS1100GK

I've got to replace a rusted exhaust system on a 1984 GS1100GK. I can't find a stock replacement so after researching this forum, I'm going to go with a aftermarket exhaust made for a GS1100. My question is, if I need to rejet, can I use a dyno-jet kit for a GS1100? Because I can't find one for a GK. Do they use the same carburetors?

    Thanks,
    Randy

you would need a jet kit for your specific year/make/model(if its offered).
there's people around here who can recommend some jetting with your new exhaust and stock air box.
    they will be here soon.

      gk jet kit

      Thanks for the reply.
I cannot find a jet kit for specifically for the 8 valve 1100GK. I might have too try different jet combinations too compensate for the new exhaust. The bike has run a little on the lean side for the past 20 yrs with the stock exhaust.

where to buy dynojet kit for GS1100GKE

I installed a dynojet kit for my 84 GS1100GK. A quick search brought up a few good links. Here's one:

The bike I put it in has Mac 4-1 pipes with stock air box/filter. The kit has instructions for jetting and setting the jet needle. However I had to lower them (leaning the mixture) because the dynojet recommendations were just too rich.

Oh btw - make sure you've done all the preliminary steps (like fixing any air leaks, replacing intake o-rings, checking valve clearances....) before you install the new exhaust and start re-jetting. It will save a lot of time and headaches

If all you're doing is the exhaust and keeping the stock air box, it is unlikely that you will need to rejet. You may need to shim the jet needles up a bit if you notice a flat or sluggish spot while on the pilot jets. Your main jet sizing should be fine.

Which pipe/ exhaust set up are you looking into?

Thanks for the responses and the link.
Hoffman, how does the Mac 4 into 1 sound? Is it loud? I was looking at the Vance and Hines 4to1 because customer reveiws had said it wasn't too loud. Being a GK, I don't want loud, just a rumble
The bike has always been tuned up and the o-rings, boots, valve adj. etc...repaired/replaced about every 5 years. It has always ran flawlessly but the carb needles have been maxed out and the plugs have looked a little lean since the 80's. Thats why I'm thinking if I change the exhaust it might be too lean.

I think the Mac pipes are too loud. Of course it depends on the muffler attached to them.... Plus I don't have any experience riding a bike using any other pipes. I like the stock pipes on my other GKs. I like the looks of them and I can hear the motor running.

You mentioned the pipes you are replacing are rusty. How bad? I might be interested in them if you're just going to throw them out. I've found that metal cleaner and chrome polish can remove most of the rust and really make things shine.

                    Hi Mr. Murphy77,

Be prepared for a little trial and error. OK, maybe a lot. A kit should include everything you need, a couple of different jet sizes for adjustments, etc. Otherwise you may have to buy a few different sets of jets. With keeping the stock airbox, a Stage 1 kit might work just fine, as opposed to the Stage 3 kits which are more for pods with a 4-n-1. I know, there are so many options. Be patient and make one change at a time. There are links to some carb tuning tips on my website. Let me shut up now and just share some GS lovin'.

                      I used 3103 for 80-82 1000 and 1100 8 valve on my '83 1100gl.http://www.z1enterprises.com/SearchR...yWords=dynojet

You can go here http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm and check the parts fiche to be sure the carburetor specs and parts numbers are the same for the 82 1100 and your GK. Pretty much like Chef said.
