    Throttle valve lip seal

On each side of each carb, there's a small black lip seal kind of thing that goes around the shaft that the butterfly valve attaches to in the intake throat of the carbs. Does anybody know where to get these? I wish I could explain it better. Maybe I'll go take a pic of it and get back to ya. Shoulda done that first I guess.

    I guess I should have said it's for a 1981 1000G.

I guess you could call it that. More of a very small lip seal though.

Under the cap and on the shaft of the butterfly. It seals the butterfly shaft and the carb body?

So, where can I get some new ones? Mine are a bit brittle and have been leaking somewhat.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind, but first let me see if I can find new ones.

A local hydraulic or seals supply house should be able to measure your parts and recommend a replacement. They may or may not have something in stock, but they should be able to get a part that will work.

If you don't want to do that, you can poke around in a seal catalog until you see something with a similarly shaped cross section, then measure your parts to compare against the catalog dimensions. Once you find a match, you can call around to check for availability in a material that's compatible with fuels. Just because it's in the catalog doesn't mean somebody is actively manufacturing that particular size. So, they may recommend something similar enough to do the job. find it yourself, or have someone measure it, you're going to need a distributor to find what's available. I haven't yet found anybody who will list availability on-line.

It may be a rotary lip seal, or for this quasistatic rotary application, just a simple wiper. Based on the blurry pic, I'd expect the latter.

Don't forget the obvious: still available from Suzuki. Order from your favorite OE part source.

I think Bike Bandit may have them too. I would call it a lip seal, but without the spring. Good idea about checking a hydraulic supplies place. I may do that.

Bike Bandit (like almost all on-line OE part sellers) doesn't stock OE parts. They order from the OEM after you place an order with them.

Hah! I thought since he was asking that they were one of those items that didn't have their own number, like the gasket on the end of an airbox.
