    Throttle roll on, no WOT

The bike bogs when WOT, but if the throttle is eased on, no apparent issues, revs up freely.

Didn't seem to have this issue before I adjusted the valves.

    Hi,

It's a good idea to put your bike year and model in your signature file. Click the "User CP" link in the upper left corner and fill out your "Details" information. Then we won't have to look through your old posts to find out that we're talking about a 1981 GS750L.

OK, so you've done the valve adjustments. That's great. The engine is breathing better now. How many shims did you change?

The helpful folks here will need a little more maintenance history. Have you properly cleaned the carbs (completely disassembled and dipped in Berryman's for 24 hours, with new O-ring kit installed), sealed the airbox, and checked/repaired the air intake system? Have you vacuum synced the carbs? Have you adjusted the idle mixture screws using the "highest idle method"? Is the stock airbox installed?

Now that your engine is getting the proper amount of air through the valves, any air leaks in the intake system could be causing a low fuel/air mixture (lean condition). Or if the carbs are still dirty, the properly breathing engine could be starving for fuel because clogged passages in the carbs can not deliver the fuel necessary for the increased air flow. It could be that the slides are sticking in the carbs, not allowing enough air through.

Anyway, let us know what's going on with your bike's maintenance history. It doesn't sound serious.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff
