Did you put new gas in or is still seafoam infused one?

Resistance does increase with heat. Also check plug caps, I've had a couple go south on me and send resistance through the roof.
When I first bought the bike, it had a faulty ignitor. I then replaced it with the Dyna S system because there was no way I was going to pay the stealership for a new one.

The tank was drained and new gasoline was used

If ya don't have a compressor use aerosol spray like what you might spray your keyboard with.
Wash em with hot soapy water and a toothbrush. Spray again with compressed air.
Lightly quirt each metal part with the spray lube of your choice. I use WD40(not a word from the masses, it works).
Make dang sure your air passages are sealed. Air Box, cleaned and sealed.
      New plugs wouldn't hurt.
Also would hurt to check out the valve adjustment tutorial if applicable with your bike.
Is your fuel valve(petcock) working properly?
I'm going to give cleaning the carbs another shot. Hopefully this will solve my issue. Thanks everyone for helping me out with this issue. I'll report back in a few days.

        Hi,

Sometimes this can mean that the tips of the adjustment screws are broken off inside the ports. Take them completely out and inspect. See this thread:

Or just see the highlights in the guide on my website:

Did you note how many turns out the screws were before you set them at 2 turns out?

This is exactly what going on with my 77 750 as well..right down to how the plugs look. I put new plugs in today and 24 miles later they look just like that. All we have determined so far is that according to all published info the carbs all have the wrong mains and piolt jets.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Sorry for the long delay, things have been crazy at school. Just started to take things apart. Turns out the petcock is shot. I took off the carbs today and gas flowed out like crazy. Had the tank sitting on a bench overnight, came into the shop this morning and a LARGE puddle of fuel had formed on the bench (Doh!). I also noticed that carb #1 was missing the pilot air jet. Just ordered a new air jet, petcock, and air filter from BikeBandit.com so we will see how the rest of this goes.

Hi again guys. News is bad. Bike runs the same as before. Starts right up on the first push (thankfully) and needs no choke. In fact, the choke seems to make no difference on startup. I took it for a ride again today (after cleaning the carbs yet again) and it would still stall on slight hills and would top out at 25 mph. I can't rev the thing over 4,000 either riding or in neutral. I'm on my last straw with this bike. Any suggestions?

Mr. Toga, is the choke cable still attached to the carb rail? Mine has come out of the slot a couple of times. That may explain why choking it makes no difference.

it simply sounds like your not getting enough fuel. Check and make sure none of your lines are kinked..

Does it bog at full throttle?

What does it do when it reaches 4000 rpms? Runs smoothly? Or bogs and pops and backfires?

It just sits there in a smooth manner

Check your throttle cable. Or try and see if you can manually move your throttle body using your fingers / a tool of some sort. Make sure your cable is working correctly. Sometimes they can be out of adjustment. I have had this happen before and i've also had them stick or break off on the handle bar side and wedge themselves so they appear to be connected but are really 1/2 inch shorter.
