    Fuel from alternating vent tubes.

    I rebuilt my carbs and she runs like a champ BUT.... after a couple days of running fine today I noticed fuel pouring out of the #2 vent tube. I think stuck float and bang around on it and it switches to the #1 vent tube pouring fuel. It seems to alternate between the two. Any ideas? I can't see the floats switching turns sticking. Also it's not constant. It pours, peters out a bit then pours again for a few seconds.

    Vents or overflows?
    Either way you have a bad petcock if it's doing it when the engine is not running.
    Needle valves sticking too.

            OK. the petcock is fine. Probably you have a piece of crap holding the needles open. The last time I had this problem there was a little chunk of wood that somehow got into the needle.

              Would that happen to 2 carbs at once? Or would the overflow from one carry over to the other.

                No, they are separate. One other thing that happens is the valve gets smashed a little if you pull on it with pliers, then the hole isn't round inside and the needles get stuck.

                  The needles are new and were fine when I put the carbs back together. Guess I'll step outside and drop the bowls the check on things.

                    Tom..what about float heights?? could that cause the float needle to not seat all the way? And therfore overflow the carbs?

                          Mine does that now and then. I just rap the side of the bowl with the plastic end of a heavy screwdriver and it stops. It's done it two or three times in several years.

                            I checked the float heights both during assembly and with the handy dandy tool from Z1Enterprises after the carbs were installed. I dropped the number one and two bowls and checked on things and they looked fine but had no problems after I put them back together. I assume debris the chem-dip missed found it's way in to them.
