    Carb line problems.

    Hello,
I am working on an 83 550L for a friend of mine. (Never take over someone elses job!!) They "rebuilt" the carbs, with good intentions but no main jets, and put them back on. I sorted this out. The carbs are not the 4 singles but 2 together for cyls 1&2 and 3&4. I know the hook up for the fuel inlet and vacuum lines, from the petcock to the #3 carb, but there are 2 other lines that I don't quite get. One is coming off the right side of the #2 carb, and is attached just below the diaphram top. (pic 1) The other one comes off the left side of the #3 carb. It is attached just above the fuel crossover tube. (pic 2) There is also a fuel guage on the tank, should one of these go to the sending unit? Apparently I can only load one picture at a time. The 2nd one is coming in the next thread.
I have been working on bikes for quite a few years now but haven't seen this setup. Any info would be helpful.

    Cheers
    Dan

Dan, welcome to the forum. I will let someone else answer the more technical questions as I don't have enough knowledge yet. However, it's best to keep them together in one thread by hitting the post reply button so everyone can follow what you are talking about and you get complete answers. Or, set up a Photobucket account and post the pictures that way up to 10 in one post.

Basscliff will be along shortly to give you a proper welcome. In the meantime, check out his site...http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/
