What size carbs do I have?

I've got a 79 GS1000L, I needed needle and seats, so I went to my local bike shop, the stamping on top by the needle says 2.5. We looked it up in his catalog but when we got the needle and seat it had the 2.5 stamping on it but the overall size was larger than my original. Basically he's a Harley guy who can get smokin deals on parts so that's why I'm going there, can someone give me some help so I can get the parts ordered and ride this thing!

26mm are stock carbs for that bike.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
