    Remounting of original exhaust

I'm quieting down my '83 GS1100ES and putting back on the factory four into two system.

I note that there are four small half shell inserts ( part nos. 484327-0011) that wrap around the No 2 and 3 pipe just as it enters the engine's exhaust outlets.

Are these meant to center the exhaust pipe to enable the flange to bolt up? If so, are they needed because I lost all mine

Yes they are neeed to tighten down the flange. If you have a motorcycle shop around you they may have some in an old box in the back. Or, I would think you could get them from a Suzuki dealer still.

Without them, there's no way for the flange to draw the pipe into the head.

Without them your two center pipes cannot seal.

Still available from Suzuki and cheap. You can make your own but it's not worth it.
