Vance and hines for '83 850 GL

None of the go-to guys for parts seem to list a V&H that'll fit my '83 850L. I emailed Dennis Kirk and they said, "Sorry, don't sell it."

Searching the site hasn't turned up anything yet.

Anybody happen to know if there's a fit? If need be I'll just keep my stock pipes, they look pretty good, but they're a little noisy for me.

    Thanks,

    Jim

And you believe that the V & H will be quieter?

Hi Daniel...yeah, I was thinking that because the baffles in my cans are shot.

Perhaps you can find some used mufflers in your area from a member on here and weld/have them welded onto your head-pipes.

          Perhaps I could!

Or maybe even slip-ons of one species or another...?

Harley Sportster muffs usually go for about $20.00 each, new take offs, on ebay all the time.

I have a friend that put one on his 650 Savage.

                  V & H exhaust

Not sure if there is any difference from 82 to 83 on the 850 L but I just put V/H on my 82 GS L. The only issue I ran into is that the outer edges of the pipe that meet to the cylinder ports needed to be grinded down slightly. Apparently poor manufacturing quality and the outer edges after chroming were slightly large.

Thanks, thausen...what do you think of the sound of those pipes?
