    Is there a list...

...somewhere that contains carburetor and exhaust port spacing with known diameters? For the sake of interchangeability. The question comes up often enough.

For example...I have a 1981 GS750 with a 1993 GSXF750 and I'm about to try and make a 2008 GSXR1000 exhaust work on it...I'd like to know how much adjusting to the header I'm going to have to make to get it all flowing together.

I'm sure lots of other people would like to have it for much less silly reasons.

Not that I know of, and I believe if it is not here or on Cliff's site, it don't exist.
But nothing stops us from starting one, I will draw up a template and with a little help from the members who have a little time and open or loose heads that they can take a few measuments on, we will be on our way to establishing another useful, world famous resource.

        Great idea

I am always wondering what pipes will fit on what and I know it comes up often.

Some machinist or other measurement savvy member must know a protocol for doing a set of measurements.

Since everyone has to have the carbs off for cleaning following this would amass a database in short order.

I pick the to measure is to know guy.

A flat bed scanner would do for the carb side. Make a pdf that does not alter size and Bobs yer uncle.

I have calipers and dials...a little time and math can answer most of those issues. Most people don't have more than a 12" caliper, so measure like so:

            On an I4~

A: Outside diameter of carburetors on head side.
B: Inside diameter of carburetors on head side.

C: Outside distance between Carb 1 and Carb 2. Subtract outside diameter of "A" from above. This will be center spacing between Carb 1 and Carb 2.

D: Repeat process outlined in "C" for Carb 2 and Carb 3. This will be center spacing for Carb 2 and 3.

E: Repeat process outlined in "C" for Carb 3 and Carb 4. This will be center spacing for Carb 3 and 4.

That really should sum up carburetors. This is an example from a 1981 GS750E carb set:

            A: 40mm
            B: 32mm

            C: 78mm
            D: 90mm
            E: 78mm

I have the carbs and exhaust off my '81 750 TSCC engine, and another set of donor carbs that came with it that are narrower (?). Calipers and Mics are available from work so hopefully this will help me determine what they are for.
