    carb heat shields

    do they really help, or make any difference to performance?
    i was thinking of something like this.........

    but making it myself, if it is worth the trouble.

    thanks

    I think it will restrict the airflow down the center of the engine and between the center jugs..and adding a blanket to the tranny just traps heat in the engine and tranny and heats the oil up a bit more..I cant see the practicality of it myself.

    I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

      I have one on my Katana;

      It's worth an extra 300MPH

        Hot

        My carburetors don't get hot. In fact, I've never even noticed that they get warm.

            At £20 it hardly seems worth the effort (and he might come down in price as he's been trying to knock those out for ages).

            And no, from what I've seen they don't nmake any difference to performance.

              I bought it from Japan. There's nothing hi-tech about them and I think you could make your own pretty easily. Obviously the goal is to minimize heat to the carbs, but for a street bike I doubt they have much effect - mine's mainly there for the bling. Here's a better picture from back when I was running stacks;
