    Berryman's card dip

Where can I get it or something similar? I have cleaned my carbs in the conventional manner. (Taken apart and blown out with carb cleaner, adjusted float levels). It sometimes won't run an all cylinders until almost warmed up and the idle is irratic. The pilot screws don't seem to affect it hardly any. Runs fine when hot but might have to adjust idle speed often. I think I'm going to have to soak them.

Your problems could be a number of things, but starting with clean carbs is a good start

Yes, just about all auto parts stores carry carb dip.

And the carbs are not going to perform properly unless you replace all the various O-rings, the O-rings on the intake boots, make sure the airbox end caps are properly sealed (the foam deteriorates), and vacuum sync the carbs.

Also, many GS owners don't ever check the valves in their engines, which can cause running problems too. Until all the various maintenance is done and up to date, you can chase your tail endlessly trying to find all the different running problems that tend to creep into 30 year old bikes.

I have done a valve adjustment on it, went through the electrics, cleaned the connections and replaced some. Everything works and tests out as it should. The 82 750 doesn't have o-rings on the intake boots. The only thing I haven't but will do is a compression check. I didn't sync the carbs yet because of the idle issue. I will get new o-rings before I do the job.

            These:
            Number 25.
Between the intake boot and the head.
If is any more than 10 years old (or bike running hot) they are probably shrunk and hard and not sealing, probably dont even have any characteristic of rubber any more. First time I saw one I thought it was a plastic.

Getting those screws out may be the most fun you have had in a long time.

              Looks like this:

              The red/yellow/blue gallon size can.
And can see the dip basket in lower left (cant see, but the bottom is perferated)

Will be about 18 or 20 bucks.
