FYI: Photos of exhausts / mufflers / pipes (add yours too)

Well I recently asked a question about exhausts, more specifically mufflers, so I thought it would be beneficial to start a post specifically for muffler/ exhaust/ pipe info where we could put pictures of various types of exhausts for the benefit of others.

Feel free to add your own pictures of mufflers& pipes here too.

These ones I have included are clickable thumbnails of a Tranzac and a Generic "can" style muffler.

    4-1 pipes, outlet id:46.5mm and od:53.9mm

Generic and Tranzac mufflers side by side (both are inlet size: 55.0mm

    Generic can baffle

    Tranzac baffle

    Generic can outlet diameter 50.1mm

    Tranzac outlet diameter 31.1mm

    Tranzac baffle inlet reducer

    Tranzac baffle reducer

    Tranzac baffle diameter

    Tranzac rotten baffle

This Generic can is bigger but is also thinner in the outside wall thickness and the alloy discolours much faster (much harder to keep clean)

The Generic can has a really nice note and the Tranzac is much quieter (you hear more actual engine noise than exhaust noise)

Have not had dyno testing done but my engine (GS750 with wiseco 850bb kit) definitely feels more responsive with the Tranzac than with the Generic.

Caby jetting did not need changing (only mixture screw) which was pretty surprising as the tranzac is much smaller and would have more back pressure.

Because my bike is now 34 years young my main concern is that by running the exhaust with too big a muffler the engine could suffer damage such as dropped valves and/or seats or cause other engine damage.

I have a Supertrapp can on my 85 750.Lots of pics no measurements.Next time I take it off I will edit with some.

Don't know the who made this pipe. Was on one of my parts bikes.Supertrapp mid and can slipped on no problems though.

    Painted and installed

    A little vid.
Texasgs sent me a tool this to get that nasty flat spot out of the pipe.

    Did a good job to.

Polished up the can but left some of the wire brush marks in.

This is the bodywork just put on the bike.Starting to install for real now.

My 4>2>1 Hindle header and midpipe linked to a Yosh RS-3 can. The midpipe and can inlet are both 2" diameter. The Hindle was intended forst a first generation GSX-R750. They share the same pipe diameter and spacing with the '83 and up GS700/750E and ES models.

I am not home today but I will (try to remember to) get some measurements tomorrow.

How did you want the header pipes measured? inside radius length, outside radius length, along the mid pipe or all 3??

                  thanks and nice 77

I`ve got a MAC 4 into 1 installed by the PO. Would really like to get the original 4 - 2 but it just ain`t in the budget right now.

Cheers Andrew! Very happy with it, and he managed to get it exactly how I envisaged it even though I left the iPhone and cardboard mock up at home so I had to describe what I wanted...

Just under $800 all up which includes the ceramic coating...

Gonna be about 3 weeks before I try firing her up again, can't wait to hear it!
