boggs out at 4k rpm's. carbs or spark?
hey, have an 82 gs750 and it is having a running issue. it will consistently bog out at around 4000 rpm if i drive it normally. if i give it full throttle it will sputter a bit and then can power through it and runs awesome all the way to red line. i had the carbs rebuilt by the local Suzuki dealership, so im curious if the coil packs could be the issue, or if the dealership did a **** poor job. i have pod filters on it and they kept telling me it was the filters no creating enough vacuum, is there some other mod i need to do with these filters? are the coil packs bad? what do you think? advice please.Tags: None

Firstly if you put your fingers in the carb and lift the slider up manually, does it slide up and down without much resistance? or does it resist a change in position? if any of them move easier than others then there is a diaphragm or related area leak, which is one of the symptoms i had when i had a diaphragm leak at it's cap. I'd be doubtfull if it's ignition based if you can work through it and it works fine at higher revs/throttoe openings.

GS vacuum carbs with the air box removed needs st.3 jet kits installed.
if you only install larger mains a bike will run fine to 4k...bog/sputter/jump on the mains and then pull to redline with the throttle open all the way.
if you have the emgo chrome cone filters thats part of your problem.

Hi,
I would never let my local dealership work on my bike.
How did they rebuild the carbs? Did they install carb rebuild kits? Or did they completely disassemble them and soak the carb bodies in carb dip?
What kid of pod filters do you have installed? Did you install a jet kit or just bigger mains?
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
